Colorado River / Lake Mead 24

  • coloradoriver24-003 Colorado River 24 is made up of several separate sites. Most of the time when we visit a site along the river or lake, we can be fairly certain that the site is either a petroglyph site (well duh), a habitat, ceremonial site, or a place where a sentinel may have been posted to watch people traveling the river, but in this case I am not really sure what we were looking at. This site appears to be a rock ring with an opening pointing directly to the rising sun.

  • coloradoriver24-017 We never found a grinding slick, but we did find what appears to be mano that would have been used for grinding on a slick or metate.

  • coloradoriver24-020 This site has two clusters of rocks - both have two vertical rocks at the center of the cluster.
