Dry Lake 12 - Shleters and Rock Rings

  • drylake12-054  This is one of the more interesting sites in the Dry Lakes area.  The shelter contains fire blackening, lithics, partial and complete metates / grinding slicks, and a possible roasting pit.

  • drylake12-014  On the terrace directly above the shelter, there were the rock rings and an intact metate.  It is possible that the metate was left in its current postion by the original inhabitants of the shelter, but more than likely it was placed there by someone trying to get a better photograph of it.
