Valley of Fire 15 - Off The Beaten Path

valleyoffire15-151 Site 15: This is a site that I need to revisit at a different time of the day. It is a major site at the confluence of two washes and has an incredible amount of rock art in a small area. I was at the site early in the morning and most of my photos are so washed out that many things are not visible. Until I revisit the site these photos will have to do. valleyoffire15-003 This large boulder has petroglyphs on three sides. Many of the photos will be repeated because I was trying to make sure that I covered everything. valleyoffire15-125 valleyoffire15-139 Side 1.

valleyoffire15-133 Side 2: Within the white circle on side 2 is a large glyph of a sheep. The petroglyph is approximately 30” long and close to that high. In the early morning the glyph is washed out by the sun and so goes my poor photographs. My guess is that later in the day would be a better time to get a good photo. valleyoffire15-034 The barely visible sheep glyph. Also notice the grouping of hand or paw prints at the base of the sheep. valleyoffire15-129 The barely visible sheep glyph. Also notice the grouping of hand or paw prints at the base of the sheep. Upper arrow left: Base of the horns of the sheep. Also notice this is an open mouth sheep. Upper arrow right: The back of the sheep. Lower arrow left: The hand or paw prints. If these are paw prints how are they connected to the sheep. Lower arrow right: The belly of the sheep. valleyoffire15-127 I was hoping that reducing the color in the photo would help with the contrast and make the sheep more visible. Upper arrow left: Base of the horns and the head of the sheep. Also notice this is an open mouth sheep. Upper arrow right: The back of the sheep.
